Project type: Resin Bound Gravel Driveway installation

Location: Cobham, Surrey

Project Commenced: September 2015

Design Brief:

Here is the latest Portfolio addition for you: a Resin Gravel Surfacing project in Cobham in Surrey. We have other similar Portfolio additions including Resin Gravel recently, but the focus for those posts have been the design, handcrafting and installation of Automated and Electric Gates. This particular project which commenced and was completed in September 2015, is one solely focusing on the installation of a new resin bound gravel driveway, with granite edgings and a rumble strip option across the entrance.

First of all, the removal of the existing driveway was conducted. This resulted in the excavation of the original concrete driveway to an approximate depth of 275mm, with all unwanted spoil removed from the site and dealt with in the most efficient and environmentally-friendly way possible.

Secondly, for all “full-dig” Resin Gravel Surfacing projects, we install all necessary base layers. This includes a geotextile anti-weed membrane, a 200mm deep Type 3 porous sub-base and a 60mm deep AC14 porous asphalt upper base. Both of these are SuDS compliant, allowing water to pass through.

Next, the sawn granite edgings were installed. These setts were at the dimensions of 100mm x 200mm x 50mm and were bedding and haunched on the outer edge of the driveway with drylene C20 concrete. This was mixed on site, or in-situ. As well as being installed around the outer edges of the drive, these setts were also installed in a divisional linear row in between the drive edge and a new bin store.

Finally, the installation of the surface was carried out. This was using Ronacrete’s blend 11.34 (Silver Moon); this was laid at a thickness of 17.5mm. We even installed this product within the client’s garage which leads out to the driveway and our work was complete when we installed a new telephone conduit underneath the driveway sub-base and a new rumble strip at the entrance of the driveway with sawn granite setts.

This was a very enjoyable project for us to carry out and we are very pleased with the result. Look out for the testimonial form the client on our website. For now, we will let you enjoy the photos of the project in the slideshow, which includes a great shot taken by our Contracts Manager Ashleigh Miles, of both of the company Directors, Stuart Barten and Ross Gandon, getting back onto the tools and on their hands and knees to ensure of a job well done!
