Most summer gardens must be seen in the daylight to appreciate their true beauty. If you love spending summer nights outdoors, however, a moon garden might be more suitable for you.
Moon gardens can create outdoor spaces equally as enjoyable in the starlight as in the sunlight. These gardens consist of white flowers and foliage that glow under moonlight, such as:
Angelonia
This is ideal for hot and humid areas. Available in white and other colours, it has spires of constant blooming flowers from spring to fall.
Brugmansia
This is a large white-flowered plant with a heavenly scent that’s only present during the evenings.
Hosta
This is a great choice for moon gardens as its leaves can reflect the moonlight even if its flowers aren’t in bloom.
Petunia
This is popular for its easy care and constant blooms from spring to winter. It comes in different varieties, with some having a mounding habit.
Siberian Bugloss
Siberian bugloss “Jack Frost” and “Looking Glass” silvery-white foliage are luminous under the moonlight. As a perennial, you can plant it in your garden as summer wanes.
