SMALL GARDEN DESIGN

The secret of creating stunning Small Gardens & External Spaces

You may not be blessed with a huge outdoor space, but our design team can be creative with what you do have. With a little design know-how even the smallest back lawn, the most petite of patios or the tiniest of balconies can become an enjoyable place in which to spend time. Trick the eye with a colour scheme or clever use of lighting, make a feature of foliage, or simply adorn the small space with inviting accessories. Look no further, we have all the small garden ideas you need.

Aspect and Position

Aspect and Position

The position of the Sun is vital for any Small Garden design, your south facing aspects are bathed in sunshine many hours of the day while north facing areas receive next to none.

Our Designers will gear your new Design to make sure your terrace, the planting, a shade pergola or an evening sunset spot for a hammock are positioned in the optimum part of your Small Garden.

That’s not to say we cannot cope with the shade, our Planting Scheme Designers will find you many plants that will grow in the most challenging aspects and environments.

Outdoor Living

There’s not many better ways to do than eating and entertaining within the garden, no matter how limited your is within your garden.

Our designers will design your dining terrace to suit your space, balanced and softened with beautiful foliage and flower from a flourishing planting scheme.

Whether you require a secretive spot to hide away for a morning coffee, or a more accommodating space to feed your family, our design team will create the space that suits you and your home life

Focal points

Focal points

The best view, the best feature of your space, often create stunning focal points.

A focal point can be used to lead your eye to this point, giving a sense of extra space when your view is taken by a vista to your main focal points of your new garden scheme.

Our design team will use focal point/s to increase the sense of space, enhance the beautiful features of your garden, and distract you from negative surroundings that are out of your control.

Our Lighting systems often prioritise the need for illumination of your strong focal points, see our Garden Lighting Services for more information.

Contained Planting Themes

Containers filled with seasonal or permanent structural plants are extremely versatile and make great space saving planting areas within any small garden space.

They can create stunning features when used to frame an door opening or entrance, or simply brighten up a corner of an area, they also provide an extra dimension of height and stature within your space.

For those who like to farm and eat from the garden, containers can provide herbs or even used for vegetables, keeping them contained to a specific area, making the messy part of the garden limited to a specific space.

Featuring Water

Featuring Water

The presence of water in a Small Garden creates not only a idyllic feature for the garden, but the sound of water is often tranquil relaxing, adding another sensory ingredient to your new garden space.

The sound benefit can be used to drown out nearby unwanted noise from neighbouring roads or any unpleasant sound you have in your home’s surroundings.

You don’t have to worry about high maintenance associated with a large Koi pond, our Design Team can design a feature that’s not only a beautiful asset for your Small Garden, but low maintenance as well so the hassle of water is reduced.

Limited space... More storage

When space is limited, our team can create storage areas within your Small garden to serve many purposes. Our team design external shelving, bookcases and seating.

This beautiful cedar slatted bench creates not only a stunning seating area for additional guests, but the lid can be lifted to reveal valuable storage area for your cushions, dining furnishings and even the untidy articles you sometimes have in your garden.

Our benches can be tailor made to suit your space, can be fitted with purpose made external cushions, and cater for your external seating/storage requirements.

Small Garden Design Packages

What To Expect

If you would like your garden redesigned by our Design team, simply complete the enquiry form or call the team today. No fees are charged for an initial chat or for most initial site meetings. We will prepare you a written “Design Fee Proposal” prior to proceeding with any charges to you.

So firstly, we will need a little bit of your time to find out a little about your ideas, then we would look to arrange an Initial Site Meeting with one of our designers, at a time convenient to you, preferably at the site location or to view drawings of developing scheme projects. At the meeting, we will listen to your requirements, then suggest the some ideas and provide advise for your project. This will take approximately one hour of your time.

Once we understand your Design requirement, we will  submit a  Design Fee Proposal for you to consider with no obligation, this will state our Design Fees and the stages of design work we will carry out for you.

Our service is tailored to suit you, your home and your requirements so your Design Fee proposal will specify the correct type of survey required, whether you will need to invest into an optional  Concept Design stage, and the appropriate stages of the process.

Each Design Package offers the most suitable survey type, a client brief, a conceptual stage if required, finally we will create a large format Master Design together with a Garden Installation Quotation & Specification to construct the new design.

“Our Garden Design Process (The stages)”  below which explains the different stages of a design process and the options that may be suitable for your new scheme.

We also provide planning guidance for all projects that require local authority or other permissions.
