Family Garden in Whitstable
The brief for this garden was to transform the existing tired and unusable space into a beautiful family-friendly garden. This particular house was designed & built using templates by famous Danish architect, Jorn Utzon, therefore our garden design was heavily influenced by Utzon’s style to create harmony between the house and the garden. This harmony was achieved by introducing black vertical timber uprights on the staircase to reflect the timber uprights on the house windows. The rectangular-shaped lawn provides a play space for children but still repeats the geometric forms seen in the architecture. Three tiers of composite decking and sawn sandstone cascade down to soften the flow of an otherwise very steep drop, leading you to a natural wildlife pond which is home to a wonderful array of all creatures great and small.
This space is truly loved by all the family.
