Whitstable Courtyard Garden

The challenge with this project was to design a garden in a courtyard space, surrounded on one side by a brick wall and glass walls on the remaining sides. The glass walls looked out over the courtyard, so all views were very important. With the design for the house taken from Jorn Utzon template, it was very important for the garden design to be sympathetic to its surroundings. It was largely planted with contrasting green leaf textures and fountain-like grasses and three hard surface textures (Sawn Sandstone paving, Kentish Ragstone and Envirobuild Hyperion granite black composite decking) the result was very simplistic and visually effective.
