Town House Garden Design & Build Project
The garden provided a challenge of building a large retaining boundary wall on one side of the garden to effectively create a level rear garden area as the existing slope and levels were very awkward and difficult to maintain. The retaining wall was designed to retain a height of 1.8m, a 1.8m fence structure was installed on top of the wall to create essential privacy from the public road and overlooking views. Then within the garden, we installed an additional smaller retaining wall formed in sleepers to create a large level plateau area, from which we could create large and meandering lawn, planting beds around the existing trees with additional flowering evergreen & perennial shrubs, a new water feature together with a link to side to a seating area and utility area where the garden’s shed, storage and composting area is located.
Materials Traditional stock bricks, Local Ragstone drilled rocks for the water feature, Scottish river washed cobbles, Reclaimed railway. Garden Lighting Halogen uplighting to create illumination effects within the new planting scheme, Halogen Rock lights to illuminate the water feature, Recessed LED indicator lights within the outline frame of the decked terrace sleepers.
Irrigation system 3 zone, pumped system, using harvested rainwater from the house roofspace. Zone1: Rear Lawn Pop-up sprinklers Zone2: Planting bed dripline & micro sprinklers (Rear Garden East side) Zone3: Planting bed dripline & micro sprinklers (Rear Garden West side)
