Moakleigh Manor?

Thoughts and musings

Moakleigh Manor?

I’m sure you have heard of ‘Movember’; for the month of November, men all over the world grow moustaches to help raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer and testicular cancer, as well as mental health issues. This has been circulating since 2003 thanks to The Movember Foundation, a worldwide charity set up to improve the health of men. Millions have aided their cause, raising hundreds of millions of pounds to have an impact.

Personally, I have participated during Movember before with a few friends at university. Only a few of us could grow an impressive moustache, but it was fun and for a brilliant cause that we raised some money for. This was despite the fact that only a few of us could grow an impressive facial moustache; I certainly wasn’t one of them.

Even now, my efforts with facial hair are laughable at best!

However, it is for a tremendous cause and I hope some of you will be inspired by everyone else who takes part for The Movember Foundation to either donate, join in or even both!

I will be clean shaving my face on November 1st; a photo will be uploaded to our Facebook page and Twitter feed and I will be taking photographs regularly to show the (awful) progression of my moustache! To donate, you can click on the following link, which is my fundraising URL: http://mobro.co/lewisatoakleigh.

I’m still trying to persuade another member of staff or two here at Oakleigh Manor to join me for Movember, but I can imagine it won’t take too long considering their fantastic cause.

Keep an eye out on our Facebook page, as well as our Twitter feed for the photos and don’t forget to visit The Movember Foundation’s website, which you can do so by clicking here.

I hope you enjoyed this brief article of what is to come!
