Large Garden Design

Courtyard & Utility Garden, Kent

A design & build project in Tonbridge, completed August 2020.

Victor, our Landscape Architect, designed a new garden scheme at this large rural property which included several different ‘zones’ of the garden. The client wanted to stagger the build process over time, starting with the Utility Garden and Courtyard Area.

The Utility Garden consists of a chicken run, raised vegetable beds, fruit cage, shed, and composting bays, all linked up with an irrigation system. The area is enclosed with a set of 5 bar field gates and surfaced with bark mulch. The perfect, functional area for home-grown produce.

The Courtyard Garden consists of a new ragstone gravel area lined with ornamental planting and a row of pleached photinia trees to provide screening along the boundary. We installed up-lighters below each feature photinia tree to uplight the tree canopies, as well as spike lights positioned under the main specimen plants.  The circular mint sandstone stepping-stone pathway is a unique addition, also serving a functional purpose to provide a pathway across the gravel.
