Contemporary Garden Design in London

Contemporary Garden Design Specialists

Your garden is a space that should be designed and developed entirely for you – a smart, stylish space that you can relax in and enjoy during not only the summer months, but all year round. Here at Oakleigh Manor, we don’t think there’s anything more smart and stylish than a contemporary-style garden.

Indeed, contemporary gardens have become the style of choice for the modern family – featuring neutral colours, straight lines and, perhaps most importantly, low-maintenance features. Here at Oakleigh Manor, we feel we are the perfect choice for creating you this, and more. If you live in London or the surrounding areas, get in touch today…

How We Work

We’ve been in this business a long time, and have built up a wide range of happy customers. Here’s the step-by-step process we follow to ensure you end up with the garden of your dreams:

  • Firstly, once you’ve got in touch with us, we’ll look to arrange a site meeting (in your garden, ideally!) to discuss your ideas, hopes and dreams. This will take around an hour and during our time together we will ask questions of you and suggest ideas – working together to build up a picture of exactly what you want.
  • Once we know what you want, we’ll pull together a quote for the different parts of the garden design and installation process. This will come with no obligation, and there won’t be any hidden fees.
  • This quote will be broken down into different parts – covering the design fees, detailing any surveys you may need and then outlining a price for the garden installation.
  • Where necessary, we can also provide guidance for all projects that require planning permission from the local authority.

Creating your Dream Contemporary Garden

Crisp, sharp lines

A key feature of a contemporary garden is the use of crisp and clean lines and shapes which can be created with the use of hard materials, such as stone, paving and decking. This creates a flawless finish that is pleasing to the eye.

Natural Materials & Neutral Tones

The use of natural materials is very important in a contemporary-style garden. You will often see muted tones, such as greys, whites and creams, creating an air of simplicity yet enhancing the flawless finish to the garden.

Popular choices of material include:

  • Porcelain paving
  • Composite decking
  • Slate
  • Corten steel
  • Timber
  • Oak
  • Western red cedar

Low Maintenance Planting Schemes

In a contemporary garden, plants are often contained within beds and neatly manicured. You will often see trimmed box hedges and small pockets of plants surrounding patio/decking areas. Although plants are often a subtle addition in a contemporary garden, the planting is a great way to soften areas of hard materials.

Water Features

A water feature is a great addition to a contemporary garden, adding other sensory ingredients to the space with the movement of the water.

Lighting Scheme

Lighting in a contemporary garden is key to creating a functional space that can be enjoyed day to night. Illuminating different areas can help to define the lines and shapes and highlight key features in the garden. A great addition to give your garden the wow-factor.

Contemporary Garden Structures

Including a garden structure such as a pergola or gazebo can add another dimension to your contemporary garden. Not only that, but the use of natural wood such as Oak or Cedar can help tie everything in together and compliment the neutral tones.
