The beauty of outdoor lounges

Relax and enjoy

The beauty of outdoor lounges

Outdoor lounge areas are a wonderful addition to any garden, providing your own private area to unwind, relax, and enjoy your garden. Lounge areas can be designed to suit your lifestyle, perhaps a private terrace to enjoy a morning coffee, a teenager’s hangout spot, or a space for entertaining friends and family.

Experience garden luxury

Oakleigh Manor can design your outdoor lounge area to your exact requirements and style, ensuring you can make the most out of your outdoor space. There are many important aspects that create the perfect outdoor lounge area.

Aspect and position

Positioning your outdoor lounge in an area with wide open views is a great choice, or perhaps a sunken lounge area to create a more private surrounding, sheltered from the elements. Take into consideration the position of the sun throughout the day. Perfectly positioning the space can create a relaxing haven.

Outdoor heating

Incorporating outdoor heating, such as an outdoor fireplace, is an excellent addition to a lounge area, providing warmth on chilly evenings and an extra visual element to the area. A fireplace or firepit can create a homely and cosy atmosphere and help to link the interior and exterior of your home. Some outdoor heating options could include:

  • Outdoor fireplace
  • Firepit
  • Gas/electric patio heaters

Planting

Surrounding your lounge area with scented planting can create a relaxing, fragrant environment to help switch off and completely wind down, adding a different sensory ingredient beyond visual. Planting flowering plants with detail that are only noticed when you take the time and have the opportunity to sit and observe your surroundings. Choices of planting could include:

  • Lavenders
  • Oregano, which also has a beautiful flower
  • Thyme
  • Rosemary
  • Roses, mixed with Stipa grasses can give both a traditional and contemporary feel
  • Dicentra stabilis has an amazing, small detailed flower that is only appreciated when you take the time to sit and observe the pleasures and finer things in life that surround us.
  • Frame a terrace with clipped Buxus and combine it with contrasting form and texture such as Hydrangea and in the spring, white Tulips

Timber structures

Incorporating a timber structure around your longue area can add a whole other dimension to the space. A timber structure can help to separate different areas of the garden, frame borrowed views, add height, and help to provide a shaded or sheltered area for relaxing as well as giving your garden the ‘wow factor’.

Lighting

Outdoor lighting within your lounge space is vital to create a relaxed evening atmosphere. Enjoy a warm summer night in the comfort of your own home. It can also create a beautiful picture as you view your garden from inside the house, all year round.

Water Features

Incorporating a water feature in your outdoor lounge area be an idyllic addition with the tranquil, relaxing sound of the running water adding another sensory ingredient to help unwind and relax.  The sound of running water can also disguise those distant sounds of nearby traffic and transport you into another world, where your garden becomes your oasis. By simply introducing water to an outdoor space you can believe you are anywhere in the world of water.

Our Recent Projects

What To Expect

If you would like your garden redesigned by our Design team, simply complete the enquiry form or call the team today. No fees are charged for an initial chat or for most initial site meetings. We will prepare you a written “Design Fee Proposal” prior to proceeding with any charges to you.

So firstly, we will need a little bit of your time to find out a little about your ideas, then we would look to arrange an Initial Site Meeting with one of our designers, at a time convenient to you, preferably at the site location or to view drawings of developing scheme projects. At the meeting, we will listen to your requirements, then suggest the some ideas and provide advice for your project. This will take approximately one hour of your time.

Once we understand your Design requirement, we will  submit a Design Fee Proposal for you to consider with no obligation, this will state our Design Fees and the stages of design work we will carry out for you. Our service is tailored to suit you, your home and your requirements so your Design Fee proposal will specify the correct type of survey required, whether you will need to invest into an optional  Concept Design stage, and the appropriate stages of the process.

Each Design Package offers the most suitable survey type, a client brief, a conceptual stage if required, finally we will create a large format Master Design together with a Garden Installation Quotation & Specification to construct the new design.

We also provide planning guidance for all projects that require local authority or other permissions.
